Meet our trustees
Dr David Simcock (Chair)
David was a lawyer in a major Auckland firm for over 40 years before returning to university to complete a PhD on the history of Auckland in the 1950s. He is keen to foster the joys of historical research for others interested in Auckland. Trustee from 2023.
Dr Greg Morgan FLIANZA (Secretary)
Greg is a qualified librarian who previously held senior roles in tertiary, public and special libraries including Auckland Libraries. His PhD was a linguistic study of a Middle English manuscript. Trustee from 2022.
Ali Ikram
Ali Ikram is a communications professional with a background in television journalism. His columns have appeared in the country’s major newspapers and been published by Auckland University Press in collections of non-fiction. Ali has previously worked in publicity for Auckland Libraries. Trustee from 2018.
Colin Davis JP, KCHS, FHSNZ
Trust chairman (2009 -2024), Colin had a public service career spanning six decades as a senior local government manager and elected representative in Auckland. Active in the community, his interests include Auckland and Northland history and heritage, and NZ art. Trustee from 1994.
Dr Linda Bryder FRSNZ
Linda is Professor of History at the University of Auckland/Waipapa Taumata Rau, and director of the Auckland History Initiative. She teaches NZ history. Her specific research interests lie in the history of health and medicine. Trustee from 2017.
